Day 11 - 100 days, 100 courses (Sunday, March 24, 2019)

Jerry and I pulled into the parking lot and while trying to get our stuff organized we heard "Didn't you guys play at 'Wolf' yesterday?" Confused we turned around and saw Il. Yes, Il. Standing in the parking lot, we came to learn that Il was in the foursome behind us yesterday and as we compared notes we learned that he would be joining us today.

Il is a dentist from Houston and relentlessly positive, and when you play with someone like him, you can't help but have a good round. Also not a bad golfer.

The course was carved out of some very rough landscape. Here, you will have to hit tee shots over multiple ravens onto narrow fairways. Every par three green was effectively an island green because other than a little rough around the green it was all desert. Most times when your ball left the rough, it was lost as good as if it went in the water.

I don't recall a tee shot that didn't involve some level of risk. It was a very mental game because you were always looking at something very dangerous.

I kept coming back to Cat's taunt of me on the 10th at Arrowood. With a pond in front of me, she said: "Dave, what's that in front of you?" Getting into my head, I preceded to hit it directly into the pond. Golf is a mental game.

You had better be in or very close to the fairway on this course. If not, expect not only desert, but rock. This course could eat a lot of clubs if one was inclined to hit out of the desert. The mixed tee boxes (some blue, some white) were a nice twist, but confusing and not always well marked. Nothing like a long walk in the hot desert looking for the tee box. Afternoon sun on the back nine made it impossible to see the ball. Best time to tee off would be around 10am. The course was in great shape and the staff was very helpful and friendly.

Would travel: 0-10 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: Average course for the area, Better courses for less nearby

#1 issue, totally handicapped unfriendly. No provisions whatsoever for anybody that has trouble walking. Was told under no circumstances whatsoever are carts allowed closer than 30 yards from a green. So handicapped cannot play any green. Course isn't that tough, pretty, and nice houses but not worth the money. Many better in area.

Would travel: 0-10 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: Average course for the area, Better courses for less nearby

Another hard course. Course in great condition. Loved the layout. Any errand tee shot not close to fairway will end up in the desert rocks! Ball flight control is key. Most fairways are wide , and offer just enough challange without making it impossible. Would love to go back and play again.

Bottom line: I would play again
